Spring Meeting 2019 at Rye
We had our inaugural Spring Meeting at the fantastic Rye Golf Club in East Sussex on April 23rd. Rye is one of the most traditional private members clubs on the golf club circuit, as well as being one of the most beautiful examples of links on the South Coast.
We had an excellent turnout of 20 players for this event, and were blessed with fine weather. The format for this meeting was foursomes.
After some excellent bacon rolls, we head out onto the Old Course to do battle on the links. This was the first time 19 of our 20 players had visited Rye – and there was a very gentle breeze to keep it interesting.
After drinks on the terrace and a fine Rye lunch, there was a far more relaxed afternoon in store for us all. It was free range, so some guests played their own ball on the Old Course, where others head out to the underrated Jubilee course to see some other gems that Rye had to offer.
Congratulations to Charlie May and Ali Bownas for a fantastic 34 points – and were winners of our first Spring Meeting. I am sure we will work on some trophies for next year!
1st place – Charlie May & Ali Bownas: 34 points
2nd place – Graham Wilson & John Hodgkinson: 33 points
3rd place – Simon Smith & Nick Mitchell: 31 points
